Did you know that “Fast Fashion” (low-cost, trendy apparel)
is damaging to our environment?
Check out the facts:
That’s the reason a group of neighborhood “sewists” are offering this clinic. You know that pile of “I need to fix this” that’s been nagging at you. It’s time to tackle it and they can help!
Let’s make your favorite clothing last longer and keep it out of the landfill.
To register for the Mending Clinic (space limited), send an email to sustainableeiber@gmail.com.
Bring an article (or two) that needs some extra love and they will troubleshoot how to fix it. They will be using hand-sewing techniques to help you repair the clothing. (Sewing machines will not be used).
Thread, needles, buttons and scrap fabric are provided for free to mend your item.
Common hand-mending projects:
- Replace or strengthen a button.
- Patch holes in pants/shirts/skirts/dresses, etc.
- Seam repair to stitch closed torn or open seams.
No previous knowledge of sewing/mending is required. We will teach you the skills needed to feel the accomplishment of mending the item yourself.
NOT ALLOWED:
- Zipper repair
- Leather apparel
