Caring for Our resources

Protecting our watersheds and keeping our neighborhood clean.

Eiber is a unique neighborhood, with Lakewood Gulch running through the entire West/East length of our community. Irrigation ditches originally built during the height of Eiber’s agricultural days still line many of our streets and continue to be used today. Eiber is home to 3 beautiful parks, while numerous enclaves of homes and small businesses are tucked in between our North/South perimeters of Colfax and 6th Ave. Sustainable Eiber helps neighbors get involved in taking care of all these special resources. Join an upcoming event, or do your own cleanup when it works for your schedule & let us know about it.

Eiber Adopt-a-Gulch

What: The Eiber Adopt-a-Gulch (EAAG) effort is a sustainability project within the Eiber neighborhood that is working with the City of Lakewood to help cleanup, improve, and assure the quality of Lakewood Gulch. EAAG is comprised of concerned neighbors who want to help care for one of our local treasures. Volunteers help clean up trash and identify environmental issues that that can impact the flow and water quality. Issues are then reported to Lakewood for improvement.

Where: Along Lakewood Gulch, from Oak Street to Wadsworth Avenue

When: 2-3 dates during summer

How to help:

  • Participate in a cleanup day (watch Sustainable Eiber’s Facebook page or website calendar for dates).
  • If you’re a Gulch property owner you can help by allowing access through the gulch during cleanup efforts.

Walking & Talking Trash (litter cleanup)

Throughout the year, about once a month, volunteers join together to walk a section of the neighborhood, picking up trash, while getting to know one another.

Events are typically on Saturdays and begin at 9 or 10am, depending on time of year (usually 9 in the summer months and 10 in the winter). We meet at a specified area and branch out to cover the vicinity, usually for about 2 hours, however you can quit when your schedule dictates. Trash bags provided. Bring your own gloves and trash grabbers (if you have them). Watch Sustainable Eiber’s Facebook page or website calendar for scheduled dates. For information, contact Jessica at 303-507-2150.
