About the Love My Air Program

You might have seen a small box outside Lakewood United Methodist Church—that’s part of the Jefferson County Love My Air Program! Inside this box is a state-of-the-art air sensor that provides real-time, hyper-local air quality data. You can access this data anytime on the Love My Air Regional Dashboard. Thanks to Jefferson County’s Love My Air initiative, our community now has access to crucial information about air quality. This data will help us address the negative impacts of poor air quality on our health. The sensors specifically track particulate matter (PM2.5), which are minuscule particles—about 30 times thinner than a human hair—that can penetrate deep into the lungs. These particles are linked to serious health issues, including asthma, heart disease, and developmental challenges in children. In addition to enhancing air quality monitoring, the Love My Air program also addresses broader climate change concerns. The sensors are powered by solar energy, supported by battery storage, and equipped with advanced data connectivity.
