Want to start your seeds early but don’t have a greenhouse?  Want to learn more about using native plants in your landscape? Come to a workshop on Feb 25th during which you’ll learn the Winter Sowing method, a gardening method well designed for starting native seeds outside. This method uses upcycled plastic containers to construct mini-greenhouses for native plant seeds. Native plants are perfectly adapted to this sowing method due to their unique adaptation to Colorado’s climate and soil. Native plants also support native pollinators and reduce the need for watering and fertilizer in your garden. By starting the seed planting now, when spring comes you’ll have plants for your garden.  Each participant will go home with at least 2 greenhouses planted with a Colorado native flower.

If possible, please bring rinsed plastic opaque milk jugs or other large clear plastic containers. Also bring a pair of scissors, box cutter, and duct tape if you have these tools on hand. Don’t worry if you don’t have these supplies, we will have some supplies on hand. Workshop hosts will provide plant seeds and dirt, but if there is a particular plant you want to start, please bring seeds for that plant.
